San Franciso Wedding Photography - Emily and David Engagement in Fairmont Hotel, Janurary 23rd, 2009

Happy new year and Happy lunar new year!!

I was so glad that my first official photo shooting this year was the Engagemnet of Emily and David . I can conclude the entire evening in two simple words - BREATH TAKING.
Emily and David are very young and very beautiful, they are camera magnet. It was a true pleasure to work with couple this gorgeous and classy. If you pay enough attention to detial, you can see that they had put in lot of effort on the preparation for this engagement session, their out fits blend into difference rooms in the shooting location.

Speaking of the location. What do you thing? Do you want to take photo over there? Ofcourse you do, you can do it but prepare to spend big to get in there. It is the president suite of the San Francisco Fairmont Hotel. Sitting on the top of Nob Hill, we can out look the heart of the city of San Francisco form the balcony of the the president suite. The hotel has been standing for more than a hundred year witness the up and down of San Francisco. This suite is big, it takes up the whole top floor of the hotel. I got lost during my first hour over there. According the David, every single president of United State had lived in this suite before except for ofcourse Obama.

Also like to mention that this is my first official shooting in 09, it is the first task of my 1 month oldEOS 5D Mark 2. And agian my first time to shoot in San Francisco Fairmont. I say my 2009 has a very impressive starting and I surely will keep pushing with the strong momentum, arrow ahead the year of OX.

Great pictures. Was wondering if you use a lot of off camera strobes or off camera lighting to light your subject?

Same question with your original pictures of the model in SF. All natural light, on camera flash, or off camera flash?

Thanks!.. keep up the great work!

Thank for so much for you comment. I did use off camera lighting. To maintain the warm feeling, I use a video light. It was foggy in that night. Even with the video light, and I still need to jacked up ISO to 2500 and set shutter to around 10 second. Thank for my tripole and the low noise 5D MK2 and fast lens (equipement really matter in this case), otherwise I couldn't get enough background light for my taste. As for the model in SF, similar condition but easiler since I have a lot more city light as my back drop. I didn't have to push it that hard to get bright enough background. Those was taken with just a 5D.
